We make one mean burger here in the Now Plating kitchen. You can find so many variations of a “burger” on our menus, but this week we have another show stopper palate pleaser. The burger patty is a blend of lean ground beef and sliced smokey andouille sausage. Minced shallots, and toasted fennel seeds are added to the burger mixture then formed into patties. Grill the burger to your desired doneness, place it in a bun and top with asiago cheese,  sun-dried tomato aioli, and sautéed red onions. So good. We paired a side of soda jerk beans with the burger. These are not your typical baked beans, they have a lot of flavor and character. In each spoonsful you will find black beans, butter beans, pinto beans, diced ham, onion, garlic and bell pepper. These ingredients are simmered in both a cola and lemon-lime pop seasoned with brown sugar, curry powder, savory, and cayenne. The end result these beans are sweet, tangy, and just addictive.
